Playboy – 2000 Video Playmate Calendar

This DVD basically captures the best of two eras of Playboy. Older calendars had very stunning Playmates, but the segments were too short and there were too many costumes and such. The calenders of the last two or three years have longer segments, but the Playmate quality isn't what it once was(there are ones in the new DVDs I just skip over, you sure shouldn't be doing that here), and the camera work is often uninspired. But in this one, you get the longer segments and arguably the best overall "crop" of Playmates ever on one of these calendars. Perhaps best of all the camera work actually seems inspired here, unlike many Playboy fare that seems to say "Oh, I'm supposed to be focusing on the naked women?!" or the last couple of calendars where the cameramen must have been thinking "can we get this over with so I can go on my cigarette break?" That's not to say that there isn't still some "fluff" here; it's still Playboy after all, they're not going to get the camera work perfect. But it's the best effort I've seen from them.

Basically, this DVD is darn near close to being a perfect tribute to and exaltation of female beauty and sexiness. Yes, there are no extras, but when the main product is this good you don't really need them. If you only buy one Playmate Calendar make it this one.

The 2000 Video Calendar goes back to the old tradition, where we have 86 minutes of screentime to see our favorite Playmates, and it's quite a collection here. 8 of the 12 Playmates are blondes (10 out of 14 if you count the Dahm Triplets one by one), and many of them are very hot. If you prefer brunettes, there are two busty babes in Tishara Cousino and Tiffany Taylor, and a 3rd not-quite-as-busty but just-as-hot brunette in Vanessa Gleason. There is even a fiery redhead in Alexandria Karlsen.

But the blondes rule this DVD, with the likes of Lisa Dergan, perky Stacy Fuson (AKA Stacy Erickson as an amateur model), a feisty Angela Little, Russian babe Natalia Sokolova, busty Laura Cover, the Dahm Triplets, 45th Anniversary Playmate Jaime Bergman (recently married to TV "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and "Angel" star David Boreanaz), and of course, the Playmate of the Year Heather Kozar.

Each Playmate gets 6-7 minutes of screentime instead of 4-5 minutes in earlier Video Calendars. This is comprised of 2 segments for each Playmate, one short segment at 2 minutes and one longer segment at 4-5 minutes. POY Heather Kozar gets a whopping 11 minutes of screentime, a 4 minute and a 7 minute segment.

The only reason I rated this 4 stars instead of 5 is that there are no bonus features on this DVD, unlike the newest 2002 Video Calendar, which has a 30 minute Playmate retrospective of 1990 Playmates to kick the overall running time of the DVD to over 2 hours.

This is still one of my favorite Playboy DVDs, and is highly recommended, especially for fans of blondes.
